Doctor Who seems to like the imagery of being on opposite sides of a wall, with your “heart’s most desire” unattainable on the other side. It’s a rather sad concept and reminds me a bit of how Lyra and Will turn up at the end of The Amber Spyglass.
I felt so bad for both older Amy and robot Rory in this one…
