Atheists On Religion, Science, And Morality (The Point)
Can we prove there is no God? Does it make sense to equate religion with science? Do theists have a monopology on morality or is secular morality superior? Was Richard Dawkins right to bring up the religious beliefs of Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney? Cara Santa Maria (Senior Science Correspondent, Huffingtonpost.com) leads this week’s panel on ‘The Point’ to discuss these issues and more with Michael Shermer (Publisher - Skeptic Magazine), Sean Carroll (Theoretical Physicist - Caltech), and Edward Falzon (author of ‘Being Gay Is Disgusting’). Special thanks to James Randi (Fopunder: James Randi Educational Foundation), Paul Zachary “PZ” Mayers (Blogger: Pharyngula.org - Professor U Of MN Morris), and AJ Johnson (Development Director for ‘American Atheists’) for sending in their points.
I think it’s wrong to ridicule someone’s religion, but there’s nothing wrong with ridiculing creationism. It’s nonsense…I mean, creationism—they purport that that is science and they’re “evolution versus creationism, you choose, there are two competing theories”. It’s not. It’s a total false equivalency and it’s an absolute joke and it should be ridiculed. It’s like saying, “I believe that my butt is a magic wand and that’s how the whole world was created. You decide. It’s a competing theory with evolution”. It’s nonsense.

(via janf)Yes. As a country we’ve definitely stopped dreaming. As stated in this video, a metaphorical tomorrow no longer exists. It died at the hands of greedy politicians that no longer wish to make the exploration of the unknown important.
